😱 X will soon make your public posts visible to accounts you’ve blocked

X will soon change the functionality behind its block button so that if you block an account, they will still be able to see your public posts, according to changes to X’s website spotted by independent app researcher Nima Owji.

Elon Musk confirmed these changes on Monday, noting that blocked accounts will still not be able to engage with users who have blocked them, but they will soon be able to see their posts.

“The block function will block that account from engaging with, but not block seeing, [a] public post,” said Musk in a tweet on Monday.

🤲 The future of social media is community

Having a large following is no longer important, according to TANGO – The Conversation Agency. The fact is that an audience is not necessary a community. Followers don’t always make for brand loyalists.

Sp what’s a community? - well, it can be defined as a group of people who FEEL and SEE THEMSELVES in a brand. And while every community will be different, they all function under common rules, such as prioritizing conversations to build a relationship with your consumers’ mind, and make them feel involved in your brand universe.

🎨 Pinterest launches a feature to let users remix collages created by others

Pinterest created an engaging format with collages last year, which allows users to combine images and cutouts to create new content. The company is now banking on people creating more of them by introducing a Remix feature.

Just like the Remix feature on short video apps, such as Instagram and Snap, the idea behind Pinterest’s feature is that users can borrow an existing collage and put their own spin on it.

How to “Remix” on Pinterest:

  • You can create a new Remix by navigating to the “Remix a collage card” option in the collage tool or tapping the Remix button on a collage you come across while browsing Pinterest.

  • Once you publish your edits, the final collage will have the names of both the user and the original collage creator.

  • Users who don’t want to be remixed can turn off remixing for collages from the settings.

🤑 TikTok looks to turn search queries into ad dollars with keyword targeting tool

TikTok has rolled out its Search Ads Campaign tool, giving advertisers the ability to target ads based on what users are actively searching for.

The goal is to turn those searches into ad dollars by matching ads with user intent, and cashing in on exactly what users want.

For now, the ads are only available in the U.S., but TikTok is eyeing a wider rollout in early 2025.

“We’ve been doing a lot of beta tests in search for the last year,” said Blake Chandlee, TikTok’s president of global business solution.

⏰ When's the Best Time to Post on Instagram in 2024?

There are many factors to consider when it comes to posting on Instagram — but the one that often feels like a make-or-break decision is what time to post your content. It's a fair concern — the last thing you want is to spend the time and resources needed to create a showstopper piece of content only to post it in a social media dead zone that results in… crickets.

Sharing Instagram Stories, reels, feed posts, and carousels at optimal times for engagement is an important consideration in your social media strategy. If your content immediately makes it to your target audience's feed while they're around to engage with it, it's more likely to succeed.

That's why Buffer combed through the median engagement rate of over 5.5 million Instagram posts sent through their platforms: to uncover which days and times are more likely to yield engagement (along with which post formats get the most likes, comments, and shares).

In other words, the best times to post on Instagram, backed by data.
