Hi friend 👋🏼 and welcome to this week’s edition of “the dump.”

This week, nostalgia meets the future of social. From AOL finally saying goodbye to dial-up (yes, really) to Threads crossing 400M monthly users, the internet is still full of big shifts. Platforms are reinventing themselves too: Instagram wants you to bond over shared interests with “Picks,” Pinterest is pitching itself as an AI shopping assistant, and LinkedIn is letting brands ride on the back of user posts for events.

And because marketing is always equal parts serious and playful, we’ve rounded up campaigns that made us smile, from Knorr turning a forgotten emoji into an icon, to McDonald’s literally tying sauce prices to the stock market.

And one quick note: we know the ads aren’t what you’re here for, but they keep this newsletter free (and pay for our editors). So, as always, we really appreciate you, your clicks, and your support.

Let’s go!

Big investors are buying this “unlisted” stock

When the founder who sold his last company to Zillow for $120M starts a new venture, people notice. That’s why the same VCs behind Uber and eBay also backed Pacaso. They made $110M+ in gross profit to date. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO. Now, you can join, too.

Paid advertisement for Pacaso’s Regulation A offering. Read the offering circular at invest.pacaso.com. Reserving a ticker symbol is not a guarantee that the company will go public. Listing on the NASDAQ is subject to approvals.
