💰 Microsoft is (maybe) in talks to acquire TikTok

Although, TikTok, Microsoft, and ByteDance have not responded to the reports. This would mark the second time Microsoft has been positioned to acquire TikTok and follows many other recent reports of rumored buyers.

🫥 Instagram is adding transparency labels to business chats

The feature is similar to the business chat tags Meta rolled out in Messenger last August and allows added transparency to in-stream conversations with audiences.

🖼️ Threads launched image tagging

The new feature allows users to tag profiles within photos posted on the app, similar to how other platforms operate. Users can also opt out of being tagged in images and users can’t be tagged in GIF uploads or videos (for now).

🧪 Threads is experimenting with spoiler tags and post templates

The spoiler feature allows users to black out highlighted text in a post, similar to Reddit’s spoiler feature, that gets marked as a spoiler. The template creation feature operates similarly to IG Stories templates, which allow people to easily reshare trends.

📰 LinkedIn is expanding its top-of-feed news banner test

The test, which only appears in the mobile app, highlights top stories that you may want to engage with above the main feed.
