Instagram is making “views” the primary metric across all of its formats, meaning that creators will be able to track the same metric across Reels, Stories, photos, and more.
The change will roll out in the coming weeks, according to a post on Instagram’s creators account.

Reddit users will soon see AI-generated summaries at the top of search results. Reddit will use a combination of first-party and third-party technology to power the feature, Huffman explained. The company will begin the experiment later this year.
Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman told investors during its earnings call on Tuesday that the company plans to test AI-powered search result pages to “summarize and recommend content.” He noted this will help users “dive deeper” into content and discover new Reddit communities.

TikTok is partnering with Warner Bros. to launch a feature that lets users discover movies and TV shows through the short-form video app.
The new feature, called “Spotlight,” appears on videos related to a film or series, and directs users to a dedicated landing page where they can learn additional information about the title, such as the synopsis, and cast, as well as short video content from creators.

🔑 Key points:
Videos that qualify for Spotlight links must have a certain number of views and creators with a decent following.
Creators participating in a Spotlight campaign can earn various incentives, such as exclusive frames for their profile photo, filters, merchandise, movie tickets, and even access to red-carpet events.

The new tool could give YouTube an edge over other social media video platforms frequently used by creators, as it offers them something that’s not available on these competing platforms. In addition, it makes sense for Google to incorporate its AI into its video platform in order to encourage creators to use its AI tools instead of other popular platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Creators who are part of the experiment can open up YouTube Studio, type out a video idea into the search bar, then be presented with two options: the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. Although the inspiration tool already helps creators come up with video ideas, YouTube wants to test whether creators also find it helpful to brainstorm with Gemini as well.

X appears to be making progress on its upcoming payments system, bringing it closer to Elon Musk’s vision of turning X into an “everything app.”
According to a recent finding by app researcher Nima Owji, the company is working on adding a “Payments” button to the navigation bar under the bookmarks tab. Owji, who made the discovery yesterday, told TechCrunch that he found references for new payment features, such as “transactions, balance, and transfer.”
